I hope that my American friends had a good Thanksgiving! Since Canadian Thanksgiving happens in October I take American one happening as the “go ahead” to get into the Christmas mood : P

I decided to celebrate yesterday by playing Animal Crossing! My original plan was to play both New Leaf & New Horizons but I logged onto New Leaf exactly as the event was ending < / 3

Animal Crossing New Leaf 🐾

I know I’m not alone in feeling like Animal Crossing New Horizons fell flat…for me there is just a million reasons why I felt like it didn’t provide what I needed it to for an Animal Crossing game to be enjoyable ( for me ). Something about the entire game just stresses me out so much, I think it’s the emphasis on decoration rather than anything else. I’m not exactly sure. After the game updated those overwhelming feelings came 10000% and I haven’t really picked it up since then…

So instead I started playing Animal Crossing New Leaf again. This game was one I actually started much, much earlier in the year during the summer time and only picked it back up again recently. I’ve really been enjoying it a whole bunch. Funnily enough I am loving decorating my town, it just feels so rewarding as opossed to how it feels in New Horizons. I can’t really explain why

On that note if anyone has any items for me on either game ( New Leaf or New Horizons ) please let me know! Because I didn’t play New Horizons much aside from the first few months it came out that means I don’t have a whole ton of content for that game, and my New Leaf file is well…new so I also do not have a ton of furniture on there either!

🌈A New Villager Space🌈

The last time I had a free space was in December so I decided to let Erik the reindeer move in just so he could match the Christmas aesthetic. I’m not a massive fan of the character aside from him being decoration so I was super happy when he asked to move and I have the opportunity to get a new villager in!

I found this comment pretty funny considering we’ve just been thrust into lockdown again for god knows how long ( goodbye mental health! ). Originally we were in a higher tier that was supposed to be lifted on the 28th of this month so there could have been a slight chance of actually being able to leave the house for my birthday but definately not going to be happening anymore : P I’m starting to feel pretty fed up with the whole lockdown stuff, I know it’s neccesary but right now I feel like I’m just existing rather than living a life. My first villager was Sherb. I know he’s a very popular villager but I’m not a fan so I passed him up. I did think it was pretty lucky I got him on my first shot though, I know some people try for hours for the popular villagers like these.

Second was this cute pink duck named Miranda. I was super close to picking her, I really like her colors and the blue of her eyes. Something told me to hold off though so maybe some other day she’ll come live on my island.

Avery makes me think of Zelda, especially Breath Of The Wild. He seems like someone who would be more suited for Eli’s town. I’d prefer mine to be more cute and colorful villagers.

I’ve found myself getting increasingly frustrated and exaughsted with New Horizons which is a real shame considering I played previous installments for years without feeling worn out at all. Up until late 2016 I still played New Leaf daily without feeling tired out. I think a big issue with New Horizons is all the effort went into the decorating aspect with little to be desired for the rest of the game. Villager interactions are bland, there’s barely any furniture in the game, so far events have felt all the same.

Personally for me the villagers are what make the game for me but in New Horizons I very rarely bother to talk to them anymore. They are constantly repeating the same dialogue over and over and if you’re unfortunate enough to have two villagers of the same personality type they will literally say the exact same things pretty much removing any sort of incentive to talk to them or the having anything that sets them apart. This was a problem in New Leaf too but it’s more obvious in New Horizons. I very rarely get a villager asking me to do a task for them, never have I ever had one ask me to play a game (which apparently they do?). A big downer for me is that they don’t even invite you to their homes anymore……..I just am so confused as how New Horizons could downgrade one of the best parts of the game so badly. I do think it’s cute that they interact with items around your town but even that seems hard to catch.

Aside from terraforming there seems very little to do in the game. Which means it puts this immense pressure on making a fantasticly terraformed and amazingly decorated unique island. This has really ruined my enjoyment of the game causing me to rarely play it and when I do play it I feel stressed out. At the beggining of my playthrough I flattened my entire island to re-do it. Something I heavily regret now.

I’m trying to terraform my island back to it’s original map the best I can. I’ll be decorating it but not overly. I’m hoping this can bring back some of the earlier joy I felt playing the game that has now been taken away.

Also please don’t take my critisisms as me hating the game. I love Animal Crossing with all my heart. I played the games my entire life and met my partner on Animal Crossing. I love New Horizons, but it’s not perfect and because of it’s hype and years of development I think it’s important to point out the flaws it has.

🌈Harvest Moon Friends Of Mineral Town🌈

One of the things I got for Christmas from my parents was the game Story Of Seasons Friends Of Mineral Town (Which I am calling Harvest Moon because that’s who it’s by and what it’s a re-make of). This game is super special to me because it was one of the first games I ever played way back as a kid on my Gameboy. If you guys are interested in wanting to see what I got for Christmas please let me know! Eli definately went overboard this year 😅

🌈Jurassic World Evoltuion🌈

Jurassic Park is one of my biggest and longest special interests. The only other one that matches it was Pokemon, I still like it but it’s not at that level anymore as what it was since I was a kid. However Jurassic Park and dinosaurs has been a thing for me ever since I was born up until now. When the first Jurassic World came out it seemed like magic to be able to fully experience one of the movies come into the theatres and all the merchandise that comes with it. I’m excited for the next Jurassic World film to experience all of that again, although it will be sad since I’m pretty sure it will be the last one in the franchise.

Jurassic World Evoltion was a game I wanted ever since it’s launch but sadly it was a PC / Console game only, meaning I couldn’t run it on my crappy laptop. For years I’ve been messaging the creators of the game in hopes to port it over to the Switch and it finally did! I was lucky enough that the game has gone on sale and I was able to buy it thanks to my last tax returns from when I worked in Canada.

I found the game really hard at first, the text is too tiny and hard to read on the TV screen but I can read the text perfectly on handheld. The only downside to playing on handheld is that all the dinosaurs are blurry, which I hope they fix soon. But I would rather have a blurry game than a game where I have to get Eli to read the text for me and constantly getting a headache 🤣
